chemical energy

Chemical energy: Energy is defined as the ability to act where work is the motion of the body for a force. We need energy all the time and energy comes in various forms.

Definition of chemical energy?

Energy that is stored in bonds of chemical compounds (molecules and atoms).

It is released in a chemical reaction and produces heat mostly as a by-product, which is known as an exothermic reaction. Examples of stored chemikal energy are biomass, batteries, natural gas, petroleum, and coal. Mostly, when chemikal energy is released from a substance, it completely transforms into a new substance.

For example, when an explosion occurs, the chemikal energy present in it is transferred to the surroundings in the form of thermal energy, kinetic energy, and sound energy.

Uses of Chemical Energy

  • We know that plants need solar energy to produce sugar from carbon dioxide to water in the  photosynthesis process . Sugar, water and carbon dioxide are held together by chemical bonds that hold the chemicals together.
  • For example, all sugars contain oxygen , carbon, and hydrogen atoms with chemical bonds . These atoms do not join together on their own; Rather they require some energy to live together.
  • Plants use solar energy to aggregate hydrogen, carbon and oxygen atoms as solar. This is a suitable example of energy conversion where energy is converted from one form to another. Here, it is transformed into solar energy to chemecal energy and avoids falling is .

Examples of chemical energy

Dry wood is the storage of chemecal energy. When it burns, the cheme cal energy is released and converted into light energy and thermal energy. Please note that wood turns to ash which is a new substance.

The food we eat is another suitable example of the chemecal energy released during digestion. Molecules in food break up into small pieces. When the bonds between these atoms break, a chemical reaction occurs, and new compounds are formed and oxidation occurs immediately as soon as the bonds are broken.

Other information

Chemical potential energy is a form of potential energy related to the structural arrangement of atoms or molecules. This arrangement can be the result of chemical bonds within a molecule or otherwise. The chemecal energy of a chemical substance can be converted into other forms of energy by a chemical reaction. As an example, when a fuel is burnt the chemica energy of molecular oxygen is converted to heat, and the same happens with the digestion of food metabolized in an organic organism. Green plants convert solar energy into chemecal energy (mostly oxygen), known as photosynthesis, and electrical energy can be converted into chemical energy and vice versa through electrical reactions.
